PSA: THE WAY YOU EAT DOESN’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOUR WORTHINESS.
There’s one thing that annoys me. Like a lot. It pisses me off so much that I’m usually very quick to “unfollow” a person using this tactic.
Today, it happened. Again.
It happens all the time on social media but what saddens and frustrates me the most is that it’s someone that I was really looking up to. Someone that I learned a lot from and bought books and programs from.
Do you want to know what it is that pisses me off so much?
It’s using food or a specific diet or way of eating to gain moral superiority and/or make others feel guilty about their own choices.
This is not only NOT COOL, but this is what is contributing to the rampant epidemic of disordered eating, eating disorder, and confusion around food, nutrition, and health…
The post said that one of the best decisions that person made in 2017 was to, and I quote, “STOP EATING DEAD ANIMALS” and mention that most are injected with hormones and antibiotics and GMOs… Yes, that’s all true. I have nothing against vegetarianism or veganism if eating only DEAD PLANTS works for you, but you can’t use your way of eating as a way to put you above anyone else or make you more “spiritual”.
I choose to eat MEAT. And yes, usually from DEAD ANIMALS. Not live ones. My body feels better this way. I also choose to eat meat from local farms where animals are pastured, fed a diet optimal for their species, allowed to have lots of space to be, all while causing the least harm to Mother Earth.
But I’m also aware that it might not be an option for everyone because of accessibility and affordability.
There isn’t only one way to do things and none of these things are mandatory to be a good person and be the best version of yourself.
Can we please get unstuck from that polarity?
Black or white? Left or right? Feminine vs masculine? Paleo vs veganism?
Can we just encourage each other to just do the best that we can for ourselves and not compare? Can we please elevate each other instead of stepping on others?
This is what I want for all of us in 2018! 🙂
What do you think?
