Bone broth is something that has been dear and near to my heart since it helped me heal my gut following severe digestive issues including a parasite infection and SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth).
But I had to say that I was a bit skeptical when I saw that a book titled ”Bone Broth Diet” was coming out. I HAD to check it out.
As a registered dietitian & nutritionist and someone who’s always interested in improving my health naturally, I have read MANY diet books. Very few diet & nutrition books are truly aligned with my food and health philosophy, but this book totally is. (Remember that I am not a conventional RD and that I ditched the food pyramid a long time ago!)
I couldn’t help but nod in agreement and say ”yes, yes, yes!” as I was reading through the book. – Aglaée Jacob, MS, RD, author of Digestive Health with REAL Food
At this time of the year, so many people are looking for quick and easy ways to get rid of the extra pounds but unfortunately, most diet plans out there are very restrictive, focus on outside systems like counting calories, and are not sustainable in the long-term. But this book is none of these things.
I was afraid that the book would suggest a 21-day bone broth fast, but this is not the case at all. Although it includes 2 weekly bone broth mini-fast, the plan includes real and tasty foods for the rest of the week. I also love that it includes meal plan and recipes in addition to really teaching you how to eat so you can maintain a healthy weight once you’re done.
The best thing about this book and Dr. Kellyann’s diet is that this is a diet that will keep you nourished and satiated while losing weight AND improving the health of your gut, joints and skin. What more could you ask for? (besides having someone cook that bone broth for you!)
This is really important because most other diets will leave you starving, depleted and malnourished. And sometimes the number will not even go down on the scale with many of them… Not only are these diets making you feel unwell with frequent mood swings, but they can also make it more difficult for your organs and body systems to function as they should. It can even make you look and feel older without the adequate nutrition your body needs on a daily basis to fight toxins and pollutants.
So if you’re looking for a great way to feel better again after the Holidays or at any time of the year, check out Dr. Kellyann’s Bone Broth Diet and let me know what you think!
And even if you are comfortable with your weight, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain by adding a few weekly cups of bone broth. The only side effects are a healthier gut, better digestion, younger-looking skin, pain-free joints as well as stronger bones and teeth.
I personally like to do a batch every week or every other week (I used to do more when really focusing on gut healing), and drink it first thing in the morning, just like a cup of coffee. It’s a great and healthy way to start the day and to support my adrenals for the day ahead.
