After working very hard on creating gut-friendly recipes in the last year, I’m so happy to say that the cookbook is now released!
After hearing great comments from so many of you about how helpful my book “Digestive Health with REAL Food: A Practical Guide to an Anti-Inflammatory, Nutrient Dense Diet for IBS & Other Digestive Issues”, I feel like this cookbook will be really helpful to make your grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free and/or low-FODMAP elimination diet a lot more tasty and fun to implement. And I hope that this cookbook can help you be successful with your gut healing protocol so you can stop worrying about your digestive issues and start enjoying your healthy life.
I’m so happy of how pretty it looks! The foot photography is even one level above what you previously saw in the book DHwRF! And of course, each recipe has its own inspiring and mouth-watering photo.
Here’s the table of content to give you an idea:
And here’s a previous of some of the recipes included (clockwise):
1) Bolón de Verde
2) Grilled Fruit Kebabs
3) MCT Bomb Smoothie
4) Energy Creamy Chai Tea Latte
I’m also super excited and proud that none other than the famous Robb Wolf, author of the New York Times best-seller “The Paleo Solution” wrote the foreword for my cookbook after having read my first book and declaring it “the digestion bible”! 🙂 Here is what Robb Wolf wrote:
Hey, folks. If you are reading this book, you’re probably sick and tired of being sick and tired. Suffering from digestive conditions like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases such as Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis), SIBO (Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), celiac disease, or leaky gut syndrome is no joke and these conditions can make life a living hell. Chances are you’re also feeling quite a bit overwhelmed. Maybe you thought a quick search on Dr. Google would clear up the confusion but instead found yourself in an endless loop of conflicting advice.
If you’ve gone to your doctor for help, you’re probably no better off. The traditional recommendation handed out by MD’s and Nutritionists is to cut the fat and jack up fiber intake. So you ditch red meat and load up on whole grains. Feeling better now? Probably not! The protease inhibitors, lectins, prolamines and gluten (and gluten-like proteins) found in grains are only going to make your plumbing issues worse. Over time, what started off as a “digestive” issue can become a full-blown autoimmune disease as inflammation, food sensitivities, and damage to the gut only increases with exposure to grains. The conventional answer to continued symptoms is to start loading you up on prescription medications. Powerful steroids, antispasmodics, antibiotics and other expensive and side-effect laden substances are now added to the equation and an already compromised immune systems and microbiome are sent into further disarray.
Perhaps you’ve found my book (The Paleo Solution) and decided to try a Paleo approach. In the simplest of terms, the paleo diet is just meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, fruits, roots, tubers and nuts; modern foods that (to the best of our ability) emulate the diets of our pre-agricultural ancestors. Cutting out all grains (and not just the gluten containing ones!), legumes and dairy likely helped your symptoms but you’re still not all the way there. Maybe you’re still enjoying that morning cup of joe, nibbling on dark chocolate, or sipping on a cup of tea. Well, the caffeine found in these otherwise paleo friendly foods can irritate digestion and drain your adrenals. How about an afternoon snack of an apple and almonds? Paleo for sure but also full of FODMAPS (fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols) natural sugar alcohols that can contribute to IBS symptoms.
When standard Paleo just isn’t enough, that’s where “Digestive Health with REAL Food” and the “Digestive Health with Real Food Cookbook” by Aglaee Jacob come in. While the first book is the definitive guide to all things intestinal and a must-read, (I referred to it as a “digestive health bible” when I reviewed it on my website) the second is a collection of recipes that take all the guesswork out of cooking gut-friendly meals. Why is having a cookbook like this so important? The bottom line is that for any diet-based health intervention to work, it has to make sense, it has to be livable, and it has to be good. Whether its the grain-free Bananoatmeal, roasted bone marrow and grilled fruit kebabs, or gummy yummies, every recipe is not only delicious, but it’s designed with your digestive health in mind. Aglaee also includes how-to guides for pickling, fermenting, and starting your own SCOBY. What the heck is a SCOBY you ask? Just keep reading, you’ll find out (and want to grow one) soon enough.
